Taking care of yourself is the first step in being able to take care of others.


Here are a few examples of ways that we can take care of ourselves

  • Be present! 5-4-3-2-1

    • Name 5 things you can see, 4 things you can touch (and feel them while you say them to yourself), 3 things you can hear, 2 things you can smell, 1 thing you can taste

  • Physiological needs

    • Are you getting enough sleep? Protein? Activity? WATER!

  • Spend time with family and friends who lift you up

  • Find healthy ways to manage your feelings 

  • #SelfcareSunday - doesn’t have to be a Sunday but take a full day not to think about or do work

  • Bare feet in the grass - there are studies that suggest putting your bare feet directly into the grass/dirt/beach helps to electrically ground your body, calming the nervous system

  • Podcast Stuck Not Broken - LMFT very trauma informed about soothing your nervous system

  • Looks different for everyone. Do what fills you up inside!
