Taking care of yourself is the first step in being able to take care of others.
Here are a few examples of ways that we can take care of ourselves
Be present! 5-4-3-2-1
Name 5 things you can see, 4 things you can touch (and feel them while you say them to yourself), 3 things you can hear, 2 things you can smell, 1 thing you can taste
Physiological needs
Are you getting enough sleep? Protein? Activity? WATER!
Spend time with family and friends who lift you up
Find healthy ways to manage your feelings
#SelfcareSunday - doesn’t have to be a Sunday but take a full day not to think about or do work
Bare feet in the grass - there are studies that suggest putting your bare feet directly into the grass/dirt/beach helps to electrically ground your body, calming the nervous system
Podcast Stuck Not Broken - LMFT very trauma informed about soothing your nervous system
Looks different for everyone. Do what fills you up inside!
